The workshop will take place on a sailing ship (Gulet) of Xenos Yachting in Bodrum (see http://www.xenosyachting.com).These Gulets are very beautiful classic wooden sailboats, origin Bodrum. Now mainly used for the 'Blue Cruise', the design of a Gulet is based on the centuries-old sailing cargo ships. They have a large deck, many inside and outside seatings and are perfect for a 'Blue voyage'. The Gullet is mostly made of Turkish pine, sometimes of mahogany or teak. |
The voyage encompasses one of the three main sailing grounds: the Gulf of Gökova, by Jacques Cousteau described as a paradise on earth. This is one of the finest sailing areas on the Turkish coast with numerous coves and pituresque anchorages, where history, culture and nature can be perfectly combined. It's a pilgrimage through 3.500 years of Western history, a homage to the past and an understanding of ancient civilizations. Certainly a very photogenic area! The landscape here is breathtaking and the sailing is quite calm; no high waves and the wind-force is usually no more than 3 or 4.

You can spend dreamy hours swimming in crystal clear turquoise water or take a walk inland to discover the small Roman amphitheater, towers and a church. After this we will sail on to Degirmen Buku (English Harbour), which is beautiful, secluded, unspoilt and hidden behind many watery twists. There is a naval history to this place.
